When a partner cheats, more often than not, it’s the end of the relationship. Even if you two decide to stay together, sometimes at that point, the love and respect has completely faded. You might wake up in the middle of the night and worry about how to know if your girlfriend is cheating. It also may feel like you’re just going through the motions. However, there are a few rare cases and occasions where a couple can make it past cheating and continue to have a loving, fulfilling relationship.
The Cheater Needs to Be Sorry
Climbing over the hurdle of cheating requires a significant amount of effort from both sides. But, most importantly, the cheater should be genuinely sorry for their actions and assure you that it won’t happen again. Your partner has to show a willingness to be completely honest and transparent with you. You shouldn’t have to keep wondering how to know if your girlfriend is cheating.
Go No Contact with the Other Man or Woman
If your partner is truly sorry, one of the first things they should do is cease communication with the person they cheated on you with. They need to demonstrate that you are the most important person in their life. Going behind your back and continuing to talk with the other man or woman is the exact opposite of that.
This may be the hardest part. After your trust in someone has been broken, it can take what seems like forever to build it back up again. It’s only natural to continue to think about how to know if your girlfriend is cheating on you. But, there should be a point where you’re able to bury those anxieties and move on. This all relies on how much your partner supports you and is willing to change.
Communicate with Each Other
In any relationship, honest and open communication is the most important part. This is even more true after your partner cheats on you. You both need to be honest with how you’re feeling and what your expectations are for the future. If you’re unable to properly understand each other, the relationship may not be able to survive.
